☆60 Cutting Out Unnecessary Things☆

Don't know if anyone else gets like this, but after a while I start to get overwhelmed with too many things. Especially when it comes to social media. I used to have just about everything that was huge and made sure to post as often as I could. But now with the pandemic, it feels like either nothing is being updated or there's too many users and my content gets lost in the crowd.

My accounts were on apps like We ♥ It, Facebook, multiple accounts on Tumblr and a few others. But as time passed, I narrowed it down to Insta (one for my gal stuff and one for my shop Bunny Crafty Dream), Twitter, Pinterest (kinda), one Tumblr account and of course my blog. I will go randomly on Pinterest and Tumblr for some inspo or just use it to repost from when I share blog posts. Twitter, so far, has been the platform that I've been most loyal to since I can just type on there and don't have to put photos and I can share clickable links. Insta on the other hand...

Pic reposted from my Insta

I don't know if it's because I just don't follow 1k+ people anymore (I'm more selective in what accounts I follow now), the crappy algorithm or just people not posting like they used to but I never see anything new on my feed. On top of that, it feels more like a chore to go on there and even try to post. I don't look at numbers anymore because at this point it's whatever. But I also feel like the platform makes it basically impossible to be seen even by your friends unless you have 10k+ followers. Which is sad because I would love to see more of what my friends post.

Anyway, I stopped using Insta for over a little while now and have not felt the need to go back to it. I even deleted the app off of my phone. I just check every so often to respond to messages that I need to and that's it. I honestly don't miss it at all. I can do all the same and more on my blog or Twitter. I would like to post more for my shop's account but even that can be tough sometimes.

So, now I ask anyone that reads my blog: Is there an app that's like Insta but better? Or just social media  better than FB and Insta out there in general? I feel like every time I try to search, all I keep getting hit with are those two along with Tiktok (which I gave up on), SnapChat and We Chat.

If you know of anything, please let me know in the comments! I don't want to overdo it to the point on Twitter where I will lose interest on that as well!

Whould you like to comment?

  1. I deleted IG a long time ago as well and don't miss it. Instagram is dying

  2. I know EXACTLY how you feel! I try to keep social apps to the bare minimum nowadays. I mean, I still have a lot of apps, but I'm not feeling the need to constantly post on there anymore and use them more to just talk to my friends than creating content on there. Reading and writing blogs is still my favourite thing to do and I prefer it than trying to find all of my friends post on insta! <333

    1. I wish I could use the apps to communicate more but I also feel like a lot of people also stopped using them XD And definitely, blogs are life!♥

  3. I also narrowed down my accounts because it was getting overwhelming. I use Facebook to communicate with some friends and family, insta to share my friend's content but I spend more time in there looking at stories rather than posting. To me my blog is the main one content creation wise... and perhaps later on I'll try twitch or YouTube again.
I don't think there is anything like insta :/

  4. I kinda gave up on posting tiktoks too girl, I totally understand. And instagram. . . it's usually my go to, but I only just now started posting again. Lately I go on there to like other people's pics and scroll through the explore page. I feel like I'm not seeing much on my feed either. I was going to say I haven't seen you in a long while ;__; (but that makes since if you're no longer using it regularly). I use pinterest and tumblr for the same reasons as you: inspo. Unfortunately I have no other sites or apps that compare to these :/

(side note: I've been so busy with my side projects, I don't have much of anything to post anyway T_T )

    1. It's so terrible ;_; It would be nice if it were like the old days when everyone was just on these apps to have fun and all that T_T
I would love to read about your side projects!♥

  5. I barely log into Instagram, and even then only to post. It keeps me taking photos, which helps me to remember events in my life XD Though I should probably put those on my blog as well
The algorithm since it changed from chronological to "we tell you what you like" makes it close to impossible to see anything. You can check regularly and think there are no new updates, only to find that your smaller friends have all had their posts hidden from you, so you need to actually click on their profile and go like all their photos to hopefully boost it into your own feed again. It's a real hassle.

IG for me is just for my posting and for inspiration now (sounds like that's what you use tumblr and pinterest for!) I wish IG would go back to chronological feeds, but that is likely not as profitable for facebook :/

I absolutely cannot get into Twitter though! The way the pings and comments work just confuse me so much that I don't even bother any more >_<

    1. Yeah all of which you just said really makes me annoyed with Insta. So it's most likely I won't go back XD At least not for a long while.

Twitter actually isn't that bad. It's literally all of the same stuff as Insta except you can actually post links and such.
